Global Warming Activists – Canadian Parliament gets a new look

Canada is a bit of  backwater when it comes to global warming activism, but in December 2009 Greenpeace activists paid a visit to the Houses of Parliament in the capital city of Ottawa:
When Greenpeace activists scaled buildings on Parliament Hill in a high-profile effort to criticize Canada and its politicians over the country's position on global warming Monday, they left nothing to chance, not even the green credentials of their calling cards, their massive banners.
The activists managed to unfurl over the Parliament Buildings banners made of ripstop nylon, the material used in hot air balloons, which Greenpeace claims is eco-friendly, and for an added green touch, non-toxic paints.
Police swooped in and arrested 20 protestors.
The protest was timed to coincide with the opening of the Copenhagen Summit on summit change.
Faces were a bit red because of the apparent ease with which the activists managed to penetrate the heavily guaraded Canadian Parliament:
A former RCMP officer who did not want to be identified said the ease with which the protesters got around the Parliament Buildings is a major embarrassment.
“Somebody [has got to be] up there asking: ‘How the hell did these guys get in there?' “ he said.
